BillionCarbon
Globally, 60% of waste is biodegradable but left untreated and 40% of soils are degraded from chemical use leading to agricultural productivity loss as organic alternatives struggle to match cost and yields.
Precision biotech build for sustainability
BillionCarbon is rebuilding the broken loop between food and soil by transforming food waste into high-efficacy organic fertilisers. Founded by Ankita Vijayvergiya, the venture responds to a system where nutrients are lost to landfills while soils become increasingly dependent on chemical inputs. BillionCarbon turns food waste into a circular solution for healthier soils, stronger livelihoods for smallholder farmers, better conditions for waste workers, and lower carbon emissions.
Regenerative soil health from food waste
BillionCarbon has developed a proprietary 3-day Precision Food Waste Treatment technology inspired by natural digestion and solid-state fermentation. Its self-regulating aerobic bioreactor processes food waste without electricity, reducing biomass by up to 95% and turning the remaining concentrated nutrients into organic bio-inputs, including liquid bio-stimulant and solid frass compost.
The model is faster, less land-intensive, and more affordable than conventional treatment methods, while creating safer, more dignified work for waste workers and giving farmers access to regenerative inputs that can reduce costs, improve yields, and increase income.
