Eco-Uling

Transforming coconut waste into sustainable charcoal
Eco-Uling by Project Lily Inc. transforms coconut waste into eco-friendly and cost-efficient charcoal for a sustainable future. Originally conceived as a livelihood project, Eco-Uling has evolved into a thriving social enterprise dedicated to combating deforestation, providing waste management solutions, and empowering communities.
Uling is the local Philippine term for charcoal. The flagship product, charcoal briquettes, showcases both sustainability and quality. Made from coconut shells, Eco-Uling offers several advantages over traditional charcoal options. It has a remarkably longer burning time of up to six hours in enclosed grill units, emits minimal to no smoke, and provides twice the heat of traditional wood charcoal. The consistency of its clean burn eliminates health and safety hazards for users and ensures better predictability of costs.
Through strategic collaboration among various stakeholders and sustainable business practices, Eco-Uling strives to make a significant impact on both the environment and local communities.
Saving trees, changing lives
For every ton of Eco-Uling produced, 88 trees are saved, equivalent to one tree for every dozen packs sold. Eco-Uling does not only provide alternative energy to consumers but also creates sustainable livelihoods for coconut farmers, including those involved in Eco-Uling production.
Beyond its environmental impact, Eco-Uling actively contributes to social empowerment and economic upliftment. Through a partnership with the “Tahanang Walang Hagdanan Foundation”, Eco-Uling supports livelihood programmes, education, and training for over 250 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). Eco-Uling product does not only promote a greener future but also empowers marginalized communities.
Eco-Uling by Project Lily Inc. envisions a future where sustainable practices and social responsibility intersect. This drives a positive change, one charcoal briquette at a time. Each purchase of Eco-Uling supports this vision, aiming to combat poverty, preserve the environment, and empower individuals.
