Community healthcare under one roof
ExCare Health is redefining community healthcare by bringing pharmacy, diagnostics, and immunization services together under one integrated primary healthcare model. Founded by pharmacist Omowunmi Christine Emmanuel-Ogah, the venture was inspired by a deeply personal experience when her aunt nearly lost her life because a critical medication could not be found in time.
What began as a retail pharmacy has since evolved into a growing healthcare ecosystem that addresses the barriers many Nigerians face when seeking quality care, making healthcare more accessible, convenient, and responsive to community needs.
Expanding primary care through pharmacies
The need for ExCare Health’s model became especially clear during the COVID-19 pandemic and the EndSARS protests, when many people were unable or unwilling to access hospitals. In response, ExCare Health expanded beyond medication access to create integrated healthcare hubs that combine pharmacy services, diagnostics, and vaccinations under one roof.
Today, the organisation operates five pharmacies, two diagnostic laboratories, and an accredited immunization centre. Through its Vaxreach programme, ExCare Health is also empowering community pharmacies across Nigeria to become primary care hubs, providing training and accreditation that enable independent pharmacies to offer vaccination services and strengthen healthcare access in underserved communities.
