Prorede3's unique approach to tackling medication access inequities
Prorede3 addresses excess stock and lack of medication access in Brazil by providing a solution that allows pharmaceutical companies the donation of medications.
Prorede3 addresses the issue of excess stock and lack of medication access in Brazil by offering a unique solution that enables pharmaceutical companies to donate medications. Recognising the significant amount of unused medicines being discarded due to short expiration dates, coupled with the widespread lack of access to healthcare among vulnerable populations in Brazil, Prorede3 saw an opportunity to bridge this gap.
They observed that while pharmaceutical companies were willing to donate excess stock, the heavy taxation on donations acted as a disincentive. In response to this socio-environmental challenge, Prorede3 developed an innovative approach. They encourage pharmaceutical companies to donate medicines to vulnerable communities through reputable philanthropic entities, offering media bonuses in idle advertising spaces as an incentive.
Shaping the future of medication access in Brazil
In just a few years, Prorede3 has garnered support from six laboratories and numerous advertising vehicles. This collaborative effort has resulted in significant social, environmental, and economic benefits. By facilitating drug donation projects, Prorede3 has contributed millions of units of medication to those in need.
As a platform for collaboration between the pharmaceutical industry and media outlets, Prorede3 continually refines its compliance processes to ensure transparent, traceable donations with the highest level of security and control. In doing so, they provide valuable social metrics, such as the number of people served, and environmental metrics, including emissions avoided. Prorede3 also serves as an important ally for companies looking to enhance their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) policies.
