Globally, around 90 million children and adolescents live with vision loss—an estimated 40% of whom are affected by Cerebral Visual Impairment (CVI). Due to a lack of awareness and accessible tools, interventions often follow a one-size-fits-all approach that fails to meet each child’s unique needs.

Supporting children with Cerebral Visual Impairment with early intervention
Cerebral Visual Impairment (CVI) is one of the leading causes of vision loss in children. Unlike many ocular conditions, CVI stems from damage to the brain’s visual processing areas, meaning that even with healthy eyes, a child may struggle to interpret what they see. The condition cannot be treated with glasses, surgery, or medication. Instead, progress depends on early and consistent intervention, especially during the brain’s most adaptable years.
Vision Nanny is a web-based platform that equips special educators, therapists, and families with research-backed, customisable tools for CVI-specific visual stimulation. Their goal is to make early, effective, and personalised intervention easier to deliver.
Launched in 2023, Vision Nanny reduced therapy costs by 50%. With 3,000 users across over 10 countries countries—mainly in emerging markets—it has already impacted 7,000 children, aiming to transform CVI care globally.
A structured, scalable approach to visual skill building
Vision Nanny offers an interactive suite of assessment and intervention tools that can be used across devices, making it highly adaptable for both clinical and home environments.
At the heart of the platform is a library of activities designed to support the development of key visual skills. The design is intentionally simple, with minimal distractions, so children can stay focused and engaged. As children grow, the activities grow with them, progressing from basic shapes to more complex visual challenges that support real-world learning and application.
The platform is structured around three developmental phases, taking into account both the age and visual functioning of the child. Activities are not only based on clinical research, but have also been tested in real-world therapeutic settings. Culturally relevant content ensures children feel more connected and engaged, no matter where they are.

Grailmaker Innovations is an Indian assistive tech startup making CVI-specific vision therapy accessible through Vision Nanny, an AI-powered SaaS platform.
